Farming is a very important part of surviving. With the new 1.7 update, your hunger goes down a lot quicker so now it's even more important to have decent farms. The first thing you need to do, is find some seeds by breaking the tall grass. I also suggest finding some carrots and potatoes. You can find those by killing a zombie (it's a rare drop though). You can also find them in a village. Next, you want to craft a hoe, which is done like this:
After you have made a hoe, just right click some dirt or grass and then right click it with some food like seeds. If you want the crops to grow faster, you need to "hydrate" the soil. You can do that by placing water within 6 blocks.
The hydrated ones are the darker colored ones.
Farms can also be automated with redstone to make them more efficient.

You have your facts wrong dude. Hydrating soil doesn't make crops grow any faster, it just prevents the crops from popping off. Bonemeal is what makes it grow faster. >;D
ReplyDeleteno dude, it does make it grow faster. look at the wiki.
ReplyDelete"For the space under the plant, give a base 12% chance for hydrated farmland, or 6% for dry.
For each of the 8 blocks surrounding the plant, each block of hydrated farmland adds 2.25%, while dry farmland adds only 0.75%. This gives a maximum growth chance of 30%."
